Situation: A self-deprecating joke in a car loan thread got flagged under Rule 1, be civil.
Inputs: Subreddit Ban, Tone: Respectful, Justified: Partially
Before (12 words): “Your mods are power tripping. It was a JOKE. Learn to read.”
What the reviewer sees: Attacks the mods, Caps lock, No fix offered. What the draft fixes: Explains intent, Comment deleted, Accepts either answer.
Send to: modmail for r/personalfinance. Reply in the ban notification thread if there is one, so the mods see the context. Why it works: It disputes the intent without arguing the rule, shows a fix already made (comment deleted), and accepts either answer.
Situation: Same free tutorial linked in three replies on one day. Sitewide suspension for spam.
Inputs: Site-Wide Suspension, Tone: Professional, Justified: Not sure
Before (17 words): “I didn't do anything wrong. Reverse this now or I'm going to post about it on Twitter.”
What the reviewer sees: Flat denial, A threat, No dates. What the draft fixes: Dates and behavior, Plain explanation, New habit.
Send to: reddit.com/appeals, logged in to the suspended account, within six months of the notice. Why it works: Admins review a lot of these. It gives dates, the exact behavior, and a plain explanation, with no threats and no drama.
Situation: Three week old account, zero replies on every comment, profile shows "page not found" logged out. No message.
Inputs: Shadowban, Tone: Confused, Justified: Not sure
Before (8 words): “hello?? why is my account shadowbanned. fix it”
What the reviewer sees: No details, A demand. What the draft fixes: What you can observe, One likely cause, A question.
Send to: reddit.com/appeals. Reddit Help routes accounts flagged for spam or inauthentic activity there. Run the shadowban checker first to confirm. Why it works: It states what you can observe, offers one plausible cause, and asks a question instead of making a demand.
Situation: Post removed in r/smallbusiness, likely for a blog link at the end. No ban.
Inputs: Content Removal, Tone: Respectful, Justified: Partially
Before (13 words): “Why did you remove my post? Other people post links all the time.”
What the reviewer sees: Compares to others, No fix offered. What the draft fixes: Link removed, Easy approval.
Send to: modmail for that subreddit when a mod or AutoModerator removed it. If the removal notice came from Reddit itself, use reddit.com/appeals. Why it works: Short, already fixed, and it makes approving the post the easy option for the mod.
Situation: Sitewide suspension for ban evasion because a roommate on the same Wi-Fi was suspended.
Inputs: Site-Wide Suspension, Tone: Professional, Justified: No, it was unfair
Before (14 words): “I'm not my roommate!!! This is ridiculous, I've been on Reddit for 6 years.”
What the reviewer sees: All emotion, No facts. What the draft fixes: Explains the link, One clear claim, Calm tone.
Send to: reddit.com/appeals, and pick the option for accounts incorrectly associated with other accounts. Why it works: It explains the likely link in one sentence and makes one clear claim, with no anger to distract from the facts.

How it works
Four inputs in, one short appeal out: facts first, then ownership, then one clear ask.
Tone guide
Tone and whether the ban was justified change the draft most. Unsure? Generate twice and compare.
Where to send it
The wrong inbox is the most common reason an appeal never gets read. Two channels, two reviewers.
Mods said no? Reddit's advice is to find a similar community.

Say this, not that
The generator avoids these. Keep them out when you edit the draft.
Before you hit send
Any line fails? Fix it first. You usually get one real shot.
Short ban? Read the Reddit temp ban guide. No message? Run the shadowban checker.
Founders who stayed unbanned
Real posts from founders who used Reddit to find users by posting where they were welcome.
"haha i've tried reddit a few times and always got banned or just nowhere productive. only a few days in with mediafast but no bans! (knock on wood)"
"Reddit is like a big boss to fight. Thanks to @mediafa_st, it helps me a lot. Thanks man"
"Traffic doubled since the last month! Mostly because of MediaFast."

No new accounts, no DMs to mods, no second appeal. Reddit publishes no response time.
Our rule of thumb: nothing after a week, reply once in the same thread. Two lines.
Answer questions before you post anything of your own.
Put the full answer in the post itself. Link only where the rules allow it.
Read each subreddit's self-promotion rule before every post. Tools like MediaFast do that check for you and point you to subreddits where your product fits.

The official link is reddit.com/appeals. Open it while logged in to the banned or suspended account, because the form only shows actions on the account you are signed in with. The ban message in your Reddit inbox also links to it. This form is for sitewide suspensions and accounts flagged for spam. Subreddit bans do not go there: those go to that subreddit's moderators through modmail.
Yes for sitewide actions. Reddit's appeal form at reddit.com/appeals covers account suspensions, spam flags and accounts wrongly linked to other accounts, and you can file within six months of the notice. There is no form for subreddit bans. For those, you write to the moderators in modmail, which is what this generator drafts when you pick Subreddit Ban.
Yes. It is free, needs no signup, and you can generate up to 5 drafts per minute. Pick your ban type, describe what happened, choose a tone, and copy the draft. You can generate again with a different tone to compare versions.
Yes. Each draft follows the same five part structure: who and where, owning or clarifying the issue, one line of context, what changes, and a polite ask. The six before and after examples on this page show that structure for subreddit bans, suspensions, shadowbans, removed posts and ban evasion flags. Swap in your own details before you send.
Reddit does not publish a response time for appeals, and subreddit moderators are volunteers, so some answer in hours and some never answer. Our rule of thumb is to wait at least 7 days before one short follow-up in the same modmail thread. Do not send a second appeal through the form, because Reddit may limit repeat appeals on one decision.
Yes. Permanent subreddit bans can be appealed to that subreddit's mods, and permanent sitewide suspensions can be appealed at reddit.com/appeals within six months of the notice. In Reddit's January to June 2024 transparency report, admin appeals had an average success rate of about 20.8%, so roughly one in five worked. A calm, specific appeal is your best shot.
Pick Not sure for the justified question and the Confused tone. The draft describes your recent activity and politely asks which rule applied. Mods often answer that question even when they keep the ban, and the answer tells you what to avoid next time.
Short. The generator keeps every draft under 200 words, because moderators and admins read many appeals and a long message gets skimmed. Five short paragraphs is plenty: who you are and what happened, the rule, one line of context, what you will change, and the ask.
Yes, always. Check every date, post title and rule number, and remove anything that is not true. An appeal that gets a detail wrong reads like a form letter. Two minutes of editing turns the draft into your own message.
Yes. Pick Content Removal. If a moderator or AutoModerator removed it, message that subreddit's mods. If the removal notice came from Reddit, use reddit.com/appeals. Often the fastest route is to fix the issue, such as removing a link, and ask the mods to approve the edited post.
A subreddit ban only blocks you from posting and commenting in that one subreddit, and you can use the rest of Reddit normally. Volunteer moderators issue it and only they can lift it. A site-wide suspension comes from Reddit admins and restricts your whole account. You appeal it at reddit.com/appeals.
No. Using a new account to get around a ban is ban evasion, which breaks Reddit's rules. Reddit can suspend the new account and act on the original one too. Write one appeal, wait for the answer, and if it is denied, accept it.
The usual causes are self-promotion and spam (posting your own links too often), breaking a subreddit's specific rules, incivility or harassment, vote manipulation, posting in the wrong subreddit, and ban evasion. Most subreddit bans happen because the user did not read the rules in the sidebar before posting.
